Transforming MASLD/MASH Drug Development with Quantitative Ultrasound: Multicenter Evidence for LIID & LSM

The core bottleneck in MASLD/MASH drug development is the inability to measure inflammation non‑invasively at scale. Hisky Medical’s iLivTouch platform – combining transient elastography and quantitative ultrasound (QUS) – delivers LIID (Liver Inflammation Index) and LSM (liver stiffness) in a single 2‑minute exam, simultaneously capturing inflammation, fibrosis, and steatosis.
A recent multicenter study (10 hospitals, 410 biopsy‑proven patients) demonstrated that LIID detects MASH with an AUROC of 0.71. Using dual cutoffs, the rule‑out threshold (6.0) yields 89.6% sensitivity, and the rule‑in threshold (7.8) yields 88.4% specificity- significantly outperforming FIB‑4 and AAR in subset analyses. As an exploratory research biomarker, LIID enables patient stratification, early pharmacodynamic monitoring, and global trial scalability, offering a reproducible, biopsy‑sparing alternative for inflammation phenotyping.
